A compter du 20 janvier, le jeune photographe français Fabien Lemaire expose Impulse à Paris, qu'il définit comme un pont visuel entre notre capitale et les lumières du nouveau Dubaï. Les photos que nous vous présentons ici sont extraites de Jumper, l'un des cinq tableaux proposés par l'artiste.

Impulse a d'abord été présentée à Dubaï en juin-juillet 2008 avec beaucoup de succès. 5 pièces de la galerie Heritage House dans le quartier historique accueillaient les œuvres de l'exposition, chacune offrant une ambiance différente à plusieurs niveaux, olfactif, sonore et visuel. A Paris, les images seront également mises en scène, mais de toute autre manière - on vous laisse la surprise.

Quand le projet Impulse est né, Fabien Lemaire a reçu carte blanche de la galerie d'art avec tout de même quelques directives : pas de nus ni de portraits. Il faut saluer la subtilité de l'artiste français, qui a su satisfaire à ces exigences tout en laissant transparaître une bonne dose d'érotisme. Les images de la série Jumper ont été réalisées dans le désert de Dubaï en compagnie d'une troupe de danseurs acrobates, pour la plupart originaires du Maroc et des pays de l'Est. "Ils étaient comme des gamins en train de s'amuser, ils s'apprenaient les sauts les uns aux autres. Ce moment m'a semblé très esthétique, visuellement c'était magnifique. Je me suis fait le plus discret possible et je les ai laissé faire" précise Fabien Lemaire.

Le vernissage de l'exposition Impulse aura lieu le 20 janvier à 19h30 chez Tiaré Groupe Family Office, 22 rue de Madrid dans le 8ème arrondissement à Paris. Vous aurez ensuite un mois pour vous y rendre et admirer ses différents tableaux - prendre rdv.

Un peu plus tard dans la semaine, nous vous proposerons de découvrir Firemen, une autre série d'images qui appartient au projet Impulse.

WHAT WOULD YOU EXPECT US TO DO IF WE TELL YOU THAT WE WENT THROUGH OUR ARCHIVES AND STUMBLED UPON A COLLECTION OF PHOTOS THAT ARE OF EXCELLENT QUALITY AND IMAGE, BUT NEVER SAW THE LIGHT OF DAY… ? RIGHT… PUBLISH OF COURSE…

About a year ago Beautiful organized with photographer Fabien Lemaire a fashion photo shoot for the end-of-the-year edition of German gay lifestyle magazine Mate. Only a few of these fantastic photos were selected to be printed in the article, and to be shown here on Beautiful in December last year [Are Your Ready to Jump, December 2006], but so many were made that are worth to be shown. So, eventually we decided to present you a second selection of this photo shoot, today, here on Beautiful.

Star of the shooting was Nick Beyeler - model, presenter, trainer and former World Aerobics Champion - who flew in from Zurich to participate in this venture. Together with Paris based models Ales and Jordan Ziani he showed clothing by Thierry Mugler, Dunhill, Féraud, Lanvin, Florentino, Cerutti 1881, Marc-Antoine Barrois, Calvin Klein, Jean-Claude Jitrois and Aubade, finished with luxury accessories by De Beers and Folli-Follies to give it that special Holiday celebration atmosphere.

The shooting was done in a most original, acrobatic style, and the photos have become signature images for both photographer Fabien Lemaire as well as Nick Beyeler himself in the area of fashion shooting. Nick Beyeler was in his element and showed himself from his best site, doing whatever he does best: jumping, charming and moving his legs in angles no normal human being would ever think of doing. Nick is doing good in his career, expanding his expertise with training sessions and occasional participations in breath taking acrobatic shows with the circus spectacle Les Farfadais. Fabien Lemaire is not doing bad either. He is traveling through France and Europe on several fashion and portrait assignments, while at the same time keeping himself occupied with his art photography and exhibitions. Amad graduated from the National School of Dance in Paris, and has been working as a dance teacher ever since then. At the same time he has also been able to position himself as a successful choreographer, producing his own dance presentations in the cities of Lyon, Grenoble, Montpelier and Paris, for the last 4 years. "I love house music and the whole night scene makes me live a dream full of contradictions, extravagance and keeps me away from everyday life... it's a game and if you play it safe, you survive and have great fun with it!!!"

The best place on Earth to combine work with party is, of course, Ibiza, and that is where Amad will be during this summer, to do exactly that. Not a bad idea either, because working a summer on this Spanish island can earn you quite some money, and Amad might need that since his next project will be to start his own Advertising and Communication agency in Kuwait and, as a next step, a dance school as well. “MY BEGINNINGS WERE IN MY MOTHERS WOMB, BECAUSE THE FETUS IS AN AGGLOMERATE OF SKIN IN BECOMING. I CUT THE UMBILICAL CORD WHEN I STUDIED PSYCHOLOGY BETWEEN 1960 AND 1968, WHERE IT WAS FORBIDDEN TO FORBID. I STARTED TO CONCEIVE FASHION DURING THERAPY COURSES, WHEN I WAS CREATING ROLE PLAYS…” THIS IS HOW FASHION DESIGNER JEAN-CLAUDE JITROIS STARTED HIS CAREER. AND THIS IS ALSO HOW HE STARTED HIS INTERVIEW WITH MATE-MAGAZIN.

Leather is a very sensual texture and one of the main ingredients of Jean-Claude Jitrois’ creations. However, he does not see himself as a leather fetishist. “It (leather) veils the forms while revealing them. It covers up the body that only demands of being uncovered. If I am a fetishist, I’m a fetishist of the body and leather is only a means to celebrate the body, as I shape it like a sculptor.”

Jitrois decided to illustrate the interview with nude posed photography: ”One can say that things went backwards. A lot of artists posed nude at the beginning of their career and did everything they could to keep these pictures secret. On the contrary, I’m showing my skin late in life and I really enjoy the fact that the photos are published. At the beginning of the photo shoot, there was a little apprehension from the models who feared it would be difficult. But that anxiety disappeared very quickly and gave room to the role plays. We each played the part we had been given by Fabien Lemaire(photographer). I have to admit that we had prepared the terrain beforehand. Almost everyone knew each participant before the shoot, the models had come to the shop for fittings. During the shoot, the make-up artist and my female assistant have been very attentive while remaining discreet. Everyone was joking and felt confident. I also think that the place we picked for the shoot played a role. The white walls in the large rooms, the sun setting on the Garden of the Tuileries…there was a calm and refreshing ambiance emanating from the apartment. No, really, it went much better than I expected. If I had to, I’ll do it again joyfully.”
